Vorwort: Die am 5. August 1889 in München geborene Anny Gress war zwischen 1910 und 1919 am Herzoglichen Hoftheater in Coburg als Opernsängerin engagiert. Herzog Carl Eduard von Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha verlieh ihr 1913 den Titel einer Herzoglich Sächsischen Hofopernsängerin und vier Jahre später das Prädikat "Herzoglich Sächsische Kammersängerin". Nach der am 10. Juli 1920 mit Karl Stang in Weimar geschlossenen Ehe nannte sie sich Gress-Stang. Später in München wohnhaft zog Gress-Stang 1962 nach Bad Tölz, wo sie im Marienstift am 18. November 1977 starb.
Das Staatsarchiv Coburg erwarb den Nachlasssplitter im Jahr 2014. Er enthält Schriftstücke und Fotos, die vor allem die Zeit am Coburger Hoftheater dokumentieren.
