Einleitung: Paul Berner wurde 1910 in Stuttgart-Rotenburg geboren, lebte 1920-1936 in Rommelshausen und ab 1936 in Beutelsbach. Er war Orthopädischer Schuhmachermeister und später Angestellter bei der Firma Lechler in Stuttgart. Daneben war er sehr aktiv in der Kirchengemeinde, im CVJM, Leiter von Kinderkirche und altpietistischen Gemeinschaft. Er schrieb mehrere Theaterstücke zu biblischen und historischen Themen. Paul Berner starb am 4. Januar 1987 in Beutelsbach.
Der Nachlass gelangte über Familie Maurer aus Göppingen im Jahr 2002 ans Landeskirchliche Archiv Stuttgart. Er enthält im Wesentllichen einige der Stücke Berners sowie dazu gehörige Korrespondenz und Pressemeldungen. Der Bestand wurde im September 2022 von Johannes Grützmacher erschlossen.
